Dreaming of a 90s Vacation

I want Ellen Von Unwerth to shoot my girlfriend-getaway.
And make it look like 1992.
I can't decide who I would want to play more in this dream scenario, Christy or Linda?

Dreaming of the UK

I have really been missing England, Scotland and Wales lately (sorry Ireland, but I have yet to visit you).  I miss the green and the dark skies and of course the fashion.

But mostly I miss this little polka-dot,
Missoni-clad wee one.
There are a lot of reasons to love it over there,
but this one is the most important.

Dreaming of an Awkward Color

I love this Neon Yellow-Green.

I love it as an accent against black
(as shown in this MZ Wallace photo). . .

. . .and with white and neutrals
(like with this Kate Spade satchel below).

I think the black, shades of grey and my neon-awkward color look best on fair skin.

I love it also as a surprise color
(classic wallet and then Boom!).

I prefer the neon but a bold yellow is also nice.

And this Lanvin bag in yellow and tan with a shoulder bow is making me weep with joy. I'm not even a bow girl but I think the irreverent color combination toughens it up.

In reality this color doesn't suit me (unless you're the Lanvin Bag and then I promise you suit me very well). So I think I'll order these socks from We Love Colors so I can enjoy just a hint of it.

Dreaming of (Early) 90s Decadence

Hmmm, I was all set to skip Versace for H&M.
I didn't even bother to look up when it came out.

But then, I saw this:

And this:
What's going on?!
Prince?
Sofia Coppola?
Anna Sui!?
These are people I dream about.

So then I had to take another look.

Turns out I have time to get to know the collection
since it doesn't come out until the 19th of this month.

I think Sofia's dress would be my first choice.

It comes in purple, which I would wear in honor of Prince.

Right, Prince Rogers Nelson?
Right.

Twenty years ago if you would have asked me who my favorite designer was I would have said Versace. Isn't that funny? 'Twenty years ago,' am I that old? Also, I would never peg myself now as a Versace-girl. I was obsessed with Linda Evangelista in the Versace ads. And her hair color.

Linda still looks gorg and if this is Versace for H&M
then I'd like this look too:

Dreamiest Editor of All

For my 100th post I wanted to write about Liz Tilberis, the legendary editor who made all the other magazines grow up and become more sophisticated.
I remember where I was when I saw her official relaunch of American Bazaar; it was a hot day in late summer and I was standing in an icy grocery store when I saw Linda Evangelista staring at me, holding that 'A.'It was like a magnet was pulling me to her and I grabbed it and put in the grocery cart, not even asking my mom if she would buy it (I was still young enough that I had to ask permission for those types of purchases).

When she passed away in 1999 I felt crushed because it had been my dream to work for her in some capacity. I remember one story talking about how at the end of the day you'd find her in her office with a glass of champagne in her hand and Kate Moss on her lap. She actually put Kate on her cover 3 years before American Vogue did.

She made supermodels less cheesy.

She reminded me of Diana Vreeland before the publishers took her avant garde covers away. She always used beautiful photos and didn't worry whether America was buying a red cover with lots of numbers and catch-phrases.

I love these two Amber Valletta cover from the same year. Both stunning and unique and not the traditional muck others were using in 1993 (I'd show you an example but I don't want to dirty this post).

The juxtaposition of Nadja Auermann's covers are the best. Her transformation throughout the 90s was best documented here:

She surrounded herself with the best artists of the time and had a reputation for being a nice editor. I wonder how she would address the information overload from this last decade? I'd like to think with grace and finesse. I would also like to think that I'd be working by her side (thanks to the power of The Secret).
