Dreaming of the Red Carpet

I have yet to watch the Oscars but what I really can't wait for is to watch the Red Carpet coverage before hand.

I love looking at attractive people and what they are wearing.

Michael Pitt and his lady Jamie Bochert (I think they're married now) are the embodiment of New York cool.

How perfect and adorable is Karen Mulder at Cannes?  Supermodels from the (early) 90s really knew how to do glamour.

Speaking of 90s glamour -- there was the other end of the spectrum with grunge-glamour.  Winona Ryder in vintage and Claire Danes in Miu Miu.

This one-of-kind Isaac Mizrahi on Selma Blair made me weak in the knees.  There were even pockets!

I adore Amanda Seyfried's blue mini suit from H&M.

And speaking of mini suits, how killer is This mini suit on the brilliant Daniel Radcliffe?  Aces.

Dreaming of Tailored Trousers and Ties

I love a beautiful woman in menswear.
OK, I know Christopher Walken isn't a beautiful woman, but I would love to wear his ensemble.

I have attempted menswear many times over the years and I always seen to forget my tie clip.

I love that a strong jacket, shirt and pant
can make a woman feel powerful. . .

. . . or adorable.

I think next I need to experiment with black, red and white.

I love Winona in black on black
with touches of Victorian charm.

In all honesty I was skeptical about Rachel Zoe's line,
but she had some amazing pieces, like this red tuxedo.

I still think about this story from W in 2009.
This white YSL suit is a dream come true.

This winter all I want to wear are suits and trousers and I think I'll just let Elizabeth Peyton be my guide.

Dream Vampire

No! I'm Not talking about
the Robert Pattinson Twilight Vampire.

Nor am I referring to the CW-sexy-licious Vampire Diaries Vampires.

I'm talking about the 90's Francis Ford Coppola Vampire, Dracula.
You remember, that quasi-disastrous, maybe-awesome movie with British Heart-Throb Gary Oldman and original Indie-Darling Winona Ryder? I loved and was disappointed with that movie at the same time.

But the editorials they did to promote the film were perfect,
and so hot, that I had no choice but to forgive
Dracula and all its faults. This shoot was for the cover of the now-closed Premiere magazine and was the start of a massive crush on Mr. Oldman.

I remember Winona wore Alaia to the premiere
and I wanted to swoon
(come on, it was the early 90s and this is what people wore to be cool). Alaia is such an enfant terrible, he makes movie stars pay full price for his clothes and doesn't have a website.

Back then Gary Oldman was the perfect 90s leading man. He was British, had a temper, could be both ugly and handsome, and married a teenage Uma Thurman. Everything you could ever want in a vampire.

Museum of My Dreams and Nightmares

All this talk about Beetlejuice and
Halloween has got me thinking . . .

. . . about the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.

It all began in 1787 as The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and is now a museum/medical library. To say that this place houses curiosities is an understatement. I can't go into details because it makes me ill. I can't wait to go there!

I'm especially excited for the Gift Shop. I adore museum gift shops sometimes more than the actual museum.

I probably won't be making a trip before Halloween,
but when I do, I know what I'll be wearing:

Dreaming about Halloween

For years I've wanted to dress as Penelope Tree at
Truman Capote's Black & White Ball for Halloween.
Every time I propose this someone will bring up the fact that NO ONE will know who this is. Which is ridiculous because that was a magical night for Penelope -- Diana Vreeland discovered her at the Ball and her career was launched.

So back to 2011. What to be for Halloween?

I've already been a Harry Potter character for 4 years in a row (I have a thing for British uniforms).

Marie Antoinette (Ash was 'Red Riding Hood')

Frida Kahlo (Ash was 'Ashes')

Hester Prynne (Ash was Dana Barrett from Ghostbusters)
(Baby Pearl wanted a costume and since it
was 2008 she chose The Joker from Batman.)

Karen O (Ash was a Belligerent Bar Maid)

The White Swan (Rachel was Black Swan)

Alright, no Penelope Tree -- yet. Maybe if I ever get invited to a Diana Vreeland party I can break it out.

So I guess the next logical choice would be Lydia Deetz.

But will people know who I am if I go sans Beetlejuice?
